You guys, winter is coming. I don’t watch Game of Thrones but I think that means something about Dragons or John Snow (Joe Shmoe?, John Doe?) but to me, that means LOTS and LOTS and LOTS of time indoors with my tribe of children. I’m not going to lie, I’m intimidated. I’m currently in the research phase of finding fun indoor activities that are good for 2-6 year olds, and boy did I strike gold. Tot TrYbe is where it’s at!
What is Tot TrYbe? Have you ever seen those cute ideas on Pinterest and wanted to do them with your kids? But you don’t feel like going to Michaels just to buy 70 pom poms when all you needed were 4? Or you fear the #pinterestfail? Or your son is having 2 friends over but it’s raining and they just want to play on their iPad? Tot TrYbe craft kits for kids has you covered! It’s founded, started, designed and executed buy a mom, who’s a teacher and who’s in the thick of it like the rest of us. She gets it. She gets us.
Each kit includes 4-6 activities that are prepped and ready for your little one and up to 5 of their friends to play and explore. Activities are geared towards 2-5 year olds and include sensory play, crafts, active play, and more. Each kit is only $60, so $10 a child. I'm sorry but I could sneeze and spend $60 at target or Michaels. I walk in for a glue stick and walk out with $200 worth of stuff I apparently NEED. It's just a matter of budgetary safety to keep me out of these stores, especially with kids in tow.
Sound interesting to you? Here's my honest review.
The Ocean Play Date
These kits are designed for play dates, but I wanted to try it in a more controlled environment to start so I just did it with my 2 oldest who are 4 and 6. I feared that my 1.5 year old twins would just try and eat the supplies and throw the paint around the kitchen. I also don't know if I'd have a playdate with 6 kids. That feels more like a birthday party to me, BUT I'd have a playdate with 1 or 2 other kids and save the left over supplies for a rainy or a cold day at home
So, let's get started.
First of all, how cute is this box? It’s even more exciting than an Amazon package. It’s filled with products, instructions and even invitations for your kids to put in the mail. That may seem like an extra step for parents, but I know how much my kids love mailing things and getting mail. Such a cute idea.
It’s very user friendly! The supplies are really well organized. It's an OCD persons heaven. The activities are easy for everyone! I feel like this could have been good for a 2, 4 and 6 year old which is rare. I constantly struggle to find activities that genuinely engage all those ages. The 6 year old was a little old for it, but he absolutely enjoyed himself. Who cares if it's easy, right?
Now for the kids review. A picture is worth a thousand words, but here's some words anyway.
They loved it! It comes with enough supplies for 5 activities so it's not even like they just made one thing. They made TONS of things. They weren't required to share supplies. No one got bored. They did some projects together and some separate. Did I mention it comes with so much stuff? Like so much. One of my favorite parts is that I still have tons of supplies left over for a rainy day!
Ok now for the pictures.
Tot TrYbe really is awesome. It’s so creative and such a fun way to put down your phone and engage with your kids. The instructions are really clear and you don’t have to go out and buy a thing to go with it. You’ve got to love a product that’s for moms by a mom. It can be fun with just the family or any friends that come over, all winter long. I fully plan to buy the other products and keep them on hand for a Friday night at home with the fam or if the kids have some friends over.
